A Triumph dominated week here at mono motorcycles

Blog

Another busy week here at the mono motorcycles workshop. Here’s a snapshot of some of the bikes we have welcomed through our doors this week.

Monday

A busy start to the week.

First up on Monday Oaklie started work on a Triumph Speedmaster for new discs, pads, headstock bearings and to resolve a squeak in motion.

Next up Daniel started to strip a Triumph Street Triple down with a suspected head gasket gone. In this case the evidence pointed towards the head gasket. With parts on order this one would be finished later in the week.

Oaklie was also working on some of the DJK Motorcycles Ltd motorcycles preparing them for sale.

Tuesday

Well, that was a day.

Daniel and Oaklie had both been working on what we call ‘chunky’ jobs on Tuesday.

Daniel was working on the Ducati Multistrada 1260s. The Multistrada joined us for a Major Service and cambelts.

Oaklie started work on a Triumph Tiger XCA. The Tiger joined us for some crash repair damage to the nose, headlights, side panels and screen, alongside a full service.

Wednesday

Wednesday is our catch-up day. So today we took full advantage of this and cracked on with catching up some of our over hanging jobs and jobs which needed extra parts from the start of the week.

Thursday

On Thursday we took a few hours to take a short Master Class in detailing from former pro-detailer Daniel Morris.

Today we were focussing on the basics of wet, flat and polishing, correct use of the mop and the benefits of ceramic coating.

From September onwards, we will be offering winter prep detailing and winter detailing here at mono motorcycles.

We then welcomed a Harley Davidson Pan America for a new set of Dunlop Mutants and a new chain and sprocket.

We also fitted new shoes to a Triumph Speed Triple. The Speedy arrived just as the rain came down and for a moment outside the workshop was flooding!

With a tiny lull in the rain we managed to get the bike in and the Speedy had a new set of Bridgestone BT023’s fitted. Then our very brave customer rode the bike home, just as it started to rain again.

Friday

On Friday we welcomed a Yamaha Super Tenere First Edition for a full service, front tyre and MOT. The Tenere had been asleep in a dry garage for two years prior to our customer draining the tank, refreshing the fuel and a new battery and she burst into life.

We have ensured that the bike has had a full service and MOT ready for summer riding.

We also welcomed a Suzuki Bandit 600 back to the workshop for another garages warranty work. The rocker cover gasket had started to leak not long after our customer took receipt of his Bandit. As the dealer was some 6 hours away, they contacted us and asked us to sort this for them.

Interestingly when Oaklie removed the old gasket it was noted that gasket seal had only been used on four contact points rather than around the entire seal.
