It has been a varied week here at mono motorcycles and despite the rain, we are still here servicing, repairing and MOT’ing.

BMW R850R and Kawasaki Vulcan 1600.

Monday started with a test ride on the BMW R850R which we welcomed last week.

The R850R had a considerable running fault and was only running on 1 cylinder at receipt.

Following a Major Service in which we discovered that all of the valve clearances were out and we found water in the tank and rusty water in the fuel filter and the injector; the bike is and was on road test running on 2 cylinders again.

As is always the case in these cases, we have advised our customer that as we have no idea of how long the water was in the tank (judging by the rust in the injector and fuel filter, we imagine quite some time) and that despite best practises on our behalf, there are no 100% guarantees that it has not caused long term damage.

We also welcomed one of the larger Kawasaki family on Monday, the Vulcan 1600. The Vulcan joined us for a snow foam wash and ACF50 winter treatment.

Oaklie guiding Jack through service and safety protocols.

Jack was with us on Tuesday and as part of his induction and workshop training, he spent a good proportion of today under Oaklie’s tutelage.

Oaklie was running through our safety check and service protocols, the many checks we complete, how servicing differs bike to bike and about the paper work essential as part of our servicing matrix.

In the afternoon Jack has was supporting Daniel in the MOT bay.

CCM GP450 Rally Tower conversion complete.

Regular followers will have seen the GP450 in varying states of strip down, but the main part of the work surrounded the installation of a rally tower and roadbook.

The rally tower not being for the CCM, has needed some considerable modifications to allow it to fit with the electrics and road book.

Daniel has completed a considerable of body of work and Ben from BM Fabrications has been working with us to fabricate the brackets to be able to convert the tower for the CCM.

We hope that our customer will reap the benefits and bonuses of the rally tower and the new electrics which supports its function.

Triumph Tiger 800 XRX.

On Thursday we welcomed a Triumph Tiger 800 XRX back to the workshop for an interim service and MOT.

Our customer having just undertaken a European tour, thought it would be a good idea to have the bike serviced before and after the trip. A sensible plan.

Triumph Rocket III.

On Friday we welcomed a Triumph Rocket III to the workshop for an annual service.

We also welcomed a Vespa Tourer 300 for an annual service and an MOT.
