CCM, Honda, BMW, Yamaha, Suzuki, Ducati at mono motorcycles
It’s been a week of diagnostics, service, repair and CCMs this week at the mono motorcycles workshop. Let’s take a look at some of the motorcycles we have had in this week and find out more about their stories.
BMW S1000R, Suzuki GSX1250FA ST and Ducati Multistrada
On Tuesday we welcomed back a BMW S1000R for Annual Servicing and MOT, and we welcomed back the Suzuki GSX1250FA ST for an Annual Service, new tyres front and back and an MOT.

On the other ramp Daniel started the Ducati Multistrada transformation and started the process of fitting supplying and fitting a DiD chain and sprocket, fitting rear sets, fitting new levers, fitting new gear and brake controls, installing a Garmin SAT Nav and Quadlock, installing wiring for heated clothing, installing a Thunderbox, fitting spotlights and making upgrades to the security systems.

DJK Motorcycles
It’s was a distinctly DJK Motorcycles Ltd day on Tuesday.
The Yamaha MT07, Honda CBR600, Yamaha Diversion and Triumph Tiger 1050 have all joined us today for pre-sales safety checks and assessments.
We are pleased to work closely with Danny – Owner and Director of DJK Motorcycles Ltd – offering pre-sales checks and post sales servicing and repair.

BMW GS1200
Wiring and electrical fault diagnosis are one of mono motorcycles areas of expertise.
Daniel’s knowledge and expertise are sought after at a national level.
The BMW GS1200 we welcomed recently was just one example.
The customer had purchased the pre-owned motorcycle and within a week he noted that the bikes dash had no revs, no speedo, no gear selection indicator, no indicators or lights.
We were tasked with finding out why.
Below is a list of the processes Daniel went through to draw his final conclusion.
- First the TEXA diagnostic scan showed no communications with the chassis.
- Daniel then removed the body panels and fuel tank.
- He then removed the plugs from dash/control unit/ECU to check for damage of corrosion. The plug to back of dash showed damage inside leading us to believe there had been someone in the bike previous to us.
- Daniel visually inspected the wiring loom for any signs of damage in situ.
- He then pinned out the control wires in sequence. All found to be OK.
- He found power going into the chassis control module, but none coming out.
- Based on Daniel’s diagnosis and the TEXA diagnostic his conclusion was that the chassis control module had possibly blown. As this component would need to be coded to the ECU this would need to be done at a BMW dealer.
We spoke with our customer who was very practical about the situation and who then contacted BMW who corroborated our findings and the solution.

Honda Deauville
On Wednesday we welcomed a Honda Deauville to the workshop, having been ridden here all the way from South Wales.
Our customer had purchased the motorcycle on 1st June and very soon afterwards was aware of what he believed to be an electrical fault.
Seeking out mono motorcycles as electrical experts, our customer made a booking for the fault to be assessed/repaired and for a Major Service.
The customer explained the fault as a shuddering when the bike got hot and he was riding slowly, mostly around town.
Once the bike arrived, Daniel test rode it while it was still hot and mimicked the scenario the customer told us about. Daniel could feel a shudder, but it didn’t manifest itself as anything obvious.
Once we started to get the bike apart for the Major Service, we started to find evidence as to why the bike’s performance had been hampered.
Bearing in mind that our customer had been advised by the gentleman he had purchased the Deauville off that he had performed a service and changed the air filter, we were alarmed by our findings.
The front cylinder valve clearances were closed shut, no gap at all. The plugs which looked relatively new, had tell-tale rust colouration meaning the bike had been running lean (see former note re valves) All of the fluids were contaminated, the engine oil and diff oil were black, and the brake fluid was a dark orange colour. The fuel filter was clogged (now flushed) and when we changed the air filter – which was completely black inside – it weighed 0.446kg (a new one weighs 0.254Kg)

Despite the previous owners alleged care for the motorcycle, what we have unearthed is a motorcycle which has simply been neglected.
We are in communication with our customer at every point, have explained all of our findings and gained his approval for additional parts such as front brake pads and a rear disc plus rear pads.

Our customer wants the bike to be right for him and safe for him to ride, which we appreciate and respect.
Therefore, as with all of our motorcycles, we will take the utmost care to ensure at the bikes return, he can feel the benefit of the body of work we will have completed.

Purchasing a second hand or pre-loved motorcycle always comes with an element of the unknown.
If you are looking for a good quality pre-loved motorcycle, then please do contact Danny Kinally from DJK Motorcycles Ltd right next door to us, who can offer a wide range of quality pre-loved motorcycles.
CCM Spitfire Bobber and CCM RAF 100 Spitfire
On Friday we welcomed two more stunning CCMs to the mono motorcycles workshop.
The CCM Spitfire Bobber (144 miles) is being recommissioned in advance of sale.

The CCM RAF100 Spitfire arrives at mono motorcycles with only PDI miles, having never turned a wheel and having been on display inside with no fuel in the tank. We have been tasked with recommissioning this one too in advance of sale.

Once our part of the equation is complete, both motorcycles will be available for sale through our good friend Danny Kinally of DJK Motorcycles Ltd As soon as they have both been signed off by us, they will be for sale. We will keep you posted.
Remember, as mono motorcycles are a CCM Approved Service and Repair Centre, we can look after your CCM offering service, repair and warranty work. We mow also have the option to offer MOT services as well.

Breakfast Club and MOT Testing Centre Grand Opening
As many people know this year we have finally managed to put an MOT Testing Centre in at mono motorcycles.
The intention has always been for us to be a one stop shop for all service, repair, wiring and MOT needs for our local community and beyond.
However, as we simply did not have the funding to cover the nearly £20K it costs to install an MOT testing station, we decided to reach out to our local community.
Through Go Fund Me fund raising and the kindness of some of our long term customers/supporters, we managed to raise the funds for the equipment and project management side of the mot Testing Centre which is £12K.
We sold our caravan and some other personal items to raise the rest of the funds.
We are so unbelievably humbled by the belief our customers and supporters have in us and are eternally grateful for their incredible support during this process.
To celebrate this incredible example of generosity of spirit within the biking community, we would like to dedicate our July breakfast club to be the Grand Opening of the MOT testing centre, inviting those who have donated and supported our journey to be part of our official opening.
We hope that bikers from far and near will join us for this very special Breakfast Club and join in the celebrations, recognising the hard work we have put in to get us where we are today and acknowledging the incredible generosity of our fantastic supporters.
We look forward to welcoming you all to mono motorcycles.
See you soon, all the best, Daniel and Katy
