CCM, Triumph, Yamaha, Ducati, Kawasaki, BMW and more at mono motorcycles this week
It has been a busy and varied fortnight here at mono motorcycles. Here is a snapshot of some of the motorcycles we have welcomed through our doors.
Week commencing 28th April
Monday
On Monday we started our week with welcoming Y10 student Max for a week of work experience. Max has a keen interest in motorcycles and is looking to potentially join the trade in the future.
First up we welcomed back a familiar Triumph Thunderbird for a Full Service and possible new front tyre. Once the bike was with us it was discovered that the rear brake pads were on the metal, the bikes clutch had failed, and it needed a set of tyres. Once the parts arrived we completed the work on this one on the Wednesday of the same week.

We also welcomed another familiar bike to the workshop. The Yamaha Tracer GT joined us for an annual service.

We also welcomed a CCM Tracker to the mono motorcycles workshop. We installed a bespoke mono motorcycles tail tidy, new rear Kellermann 3 in 1 lights, modified the side stand and fitted a new battery.

Tuesday
On Tuesday we welcomed a Ducati Monster 1100 for cambelts and a desmo service. During the service it was identified that the front left fork seal was leaking considerably. Having contacted the customer, he authorised the additional work. The Ducati was re-booked for the following week while we sourced parts.

Max was shadowing Oaklie today and being shown more about the work we do here at mono motorcycles. He went home oily today which was a good sign.
Thursday
The Triumph Thunderbird Storm which Daniel has completed a full engine strip and rebuild on went home today and Oaklie completed a Major Service on a Kawasaki Versys.

Friday
Friday morning welcomed back the stunning Triumph Bobber for an Annual Service and to install a springer seat.

Next up we welcomed a KTM 790 Adventure for an annual service, new front tyre and an MOT.

Then we welcomed a Triumph Explorer for a pre-tour check, rear tyre and diff oil change and then in the afternoon Daniel ploughed through 6 MOT’s back to back.

Week commencing 5th May
Bank Holiday Weekend
We took the entire Bank Holiday weekend off as we both needed a well earned rest.
On Saturday we started with breakfast at Cattle Box Kitchen and then we took a spin up to Billy’s On The Road for a cuppa.
On Sunday we met up with Glen and Shaun for breakfast at The Crate Cafe & Bar and then we took a ride up to Caffeine and Machine The Hut for coffee and a mooch.
On Monday we headed off out again and although it was a bit chilly and the rain caught up with us, it was great to get out and about again.

Tuesday
On Tuesday we started with a Triumph Bonneville Newchurch for fork seals and a new rear tyre.
Next up we welcomed back a Triumph Tiger 900 GT pro for an annual service, bar end weight fitting and new front sprocket to assist with reducing vibration and change the gearing.

We also welcomed another CCM GP450 to the workshop. Our customer advised that he felt the clutch was slipping. Under investigation it appeared that the torque limiter might be failing (bike makes a high pitch whine in motion)
Having sent the torque limiter off to CCM they have confirmed that it has failed. We are now waiting to see if CCM have any in stock and or what the repair kit might be for the item.

Thursday
First up on Thursday we welcomed a lovely CCM Stealth Roadster to the mono motorcycles workshop for its First Service.

Next up we welcomed a BMW R1200RT to the workshop for an interim service and brake fluid change.

We also welcomed back a Kawasaki ZX9R for an interim service. Unfortunately during the service, it was found that the thread has gone on the sump bung. This meant it needed to be helicoiled. However, you have to remove the exhaust to get the sump off, so not a 5 minute fix.

Friday
On Friday we welcomed a Ducati 749S for cambelts and a BMW R850R for an Interim service and changing the brake fluid/bleeding the brakes.

Once the gaskets arrived for the Kawaski ZX9 and Daniel had helicoiled the sump, the bike was able to be put back together.
