Ducati, CCM, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Triumph and Suzuki all at mono motorcycles this week.
It has been a very mixed bag here at mono motorcycles this week. Let’s take a look at some of the motorcycles we have welcomed through our doors this week.
Monday
Monday was a rather large catch-up day, fitting components to bikes which had joined us the previous week and needed additional work completing.
Tuesday
First up on Tuesday we welcomed a Yamaha YZF125 for new tyres, chain and sprockets and rear brake pads. The YZF had only half of the oil it should have. We topped up the oil and our customer will be booking in for an overdue major service shortly.

Next up we welcomed a Triumph Street Twin for an Interim Service and rear brake pads.
We then welcomed a CCM Bobber to the workshop and Daniel removed the rear hugger and replaced it with a side plate, moved the indicators up under the seat, changed the rear sprocket to a 38T and set the suspension to our customers weight.

Wednesday
A mixed and varied bag here on Wednesday.
First up we welcomed a regular Kawasaki Vulcan to the workshop as the fan seemed to have stopped working.
Under investigation it was found that the radiator control module had failed. The module was placed on order and we will make the repairs when it arrives.

Oaklie spent the morning working on two DJK Motorcycles bikes preparing them for sale. The first was a gorgeous Suzuki GSXS1000 and the second an SWM 600X. Both are currently for sale through DJK Motorcycles Ltd

Next up we welcomed back the Kawasaki Z900 we saw the other day for a new set of Dunlop Sportsmart Mk4 tyres. The perfect tyre for the Z900.

Thursday
Another busy day for us here at mono motorcycles.
First up today we welcomed back a regular Triumph Tiger 900 for an interim service and an MOT. The Tiger had developed a fault a while ago (the bike has been off the road for a few months) and had put itself into limp mode.
During the TEXA diagnostic there was an indeterminate fault code stored in the bikes brain. As it did not tell us what it was for, all we can do in the immediate moment is to clear it and ride the bike again to see if it returns.

Next, we welcomed the first of two Ducati Diavel’s this week. The Ducati Gen 1 joined us for a rear brake strip, clean, replacement brake fluid DOT 5.1 and an MOT.
Last job of the day, Oaklie got the Kawasaki ZX12R back on the ramp as our customer has asked us to complete a service and snow foam/ACF50 treatment.
During the service and when Oaklie started to drop the oil, the oil bowl was filled to the top before the oil started to drop out of the sight glass. We drained 6 ltrs of oil from the bike. It should only have 2.8 ltrs of oil in it. We think it will run a lot better now it is not drowning.

Daniel also completed 3 MOT’s, turned the rear shock back up the right way in the Ducati Monster Custom, completed several road tests and his last job of the day was to dismantle the front end of the GP450.
Friday
The second Ducati Diavel of the week joined us today. We know this bike very well as we have completed some extensive work on it over the years.
This week the Diavel joined us to have the rear wheel hub replaced and the rear bearing.

The Ducati Diavel from Thursday had a new set of rear indicators fitted today. However, once fitted they worked for a moment and then stopped. Under investigation, Daniel found there was no earth cable under the seat and the wiring was a mess.
Daniel then repaired the wiring and sorted the earth and the indicators now work.

CCM GP450
Regular readers may remember the CCM GP450 we have been modifying and completing mechanical actions to.
The fork oil has been changed, the clutch has been changed, the bike has been serviced, and valve clearances have been checked.
However, the main task was to install a full rally tower to the GP450.
Our customer had purchased a rally tower, but it was a generic fit and not designed for the GP450.
Therefore, with the help of Ben from BM Fabrications, we have modified the front end of the GP450, had numerous brackets fabricated and had a fully stable way of connecting the new tower/headlight to the GP450 made.
The next task is to powder coat all of the brackets and bespoke plates for the map reader, before Daniel removes it all again, refits with the customers bespoke panels/fairing to connect the new wind shield to and then Daniel will wire everything up.

Ducati Monster Custom.
Every bike is special. But some bikes… well they are on another level.
We are privileged to share the last Dirty Dick’s Motos custom bike.
The exquisite Ducati Monster Custom has joined us here at mono motorcycles and we have been given the task of finishing her.
The bike is the last bike Rick of Dirty Dick’s Motos designed before he shut up shop earlier this year and we have been given the opportunity to complete her for him.
So many parts of the incredible custom bike are uniquely designed and hand crafted.
We have been tasked with the following elements of the final part of this built.
Full wiring loom using Axel Joost components, exhaust modification, new oil cooler, battery box, carbs need sorting out, rear shock adjustment/fitting up the right way, new chain, sort the brakes, change the throttle cables and throttle to billet bespoke, adjust the frame to allow the fuel tank to sit correctly, source a suitably fitting registration plate solution and all of the nuts and bolts need to be tightened.
This one will be ongoing and may take us some time as some of the parts are still being fabricated elsewhere.
