Honda, Triumph, Enfield, Yamaha & motorcycle events @ mono motorcycles

Blog

Our first full week back in the workshop in 2022 has been as diverse & varied as ever.

Royal Enfield

The Royal Enfield joined us after the wiring loom caught fire & melted parts of the loom. Upon first inspection it was not immediately evident as to what had caused the issues.

However, once the Enfield had begun to be stripped & upon further investigation; it was very evident that a previous owner had made some unsafe modifications & in doing so had caused a fault in the handlebars, which caused enough of an issue while the bike was running to not only short everything out, but also melt the wiring as it caught fire!

Therefore, Daniel having sourced a wiring loom which was meant to be for the Enfield, found upon receipt that it was not fit for purpose.

Daniel & Nathan used some of the wires from the sourced loom, but completely changed all of the plugs & connectors in the process of making the repairs.

It was only once they had removed the old wiring loom, that they really found out the extent of the damage & the fact that the wires into the headlight had been damaged too.

Each connection, each connector, plug & wire was meticulously re-installed into the Enfield, replacing the damaged loom & ensuring the faulty wiring which had caused the issues in the first place, were removed, replaced & re-tested.

Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird.

Daniel recently assessed an F1 engine management light on the black Blackbird. Diagnosis pointed towards a fault with the ECU. On Monday Daniel proved the diagnosis using a donor ECU from another Blackbird. Here’s how he did it.

Triumphant Tuesday!

On Tuesday we welcomed two great sales for DJK Motorcycles Ltd

The white Triumph Scrambler was with us for safety checks & the orange Triumph Tiger having previously had a new clutch, was having a new battery fitted.

Stripped & ready for …

By Thursday the mono motorcycles workshop was full of skeletons as we had 4 motorcycles in varying stages of strip down.

The Triumph Speed Triple Jack Lilley Special having now been stripped & forks, exhaust & many other components are on their way for anodising & cerakoting.

The Triumph Speedmaster tank is off having the tank repaired & painted.

The Yamaha VMAX is stripped ready for a full make over including re-powder coating the frame & wheels, painting, powder coating & polishing a myriad of other components, new handlebars & installing a full motogadget wiring system to replace the ageing loom.

Honda VFR400

Daniel made a start on the next wiring job on Thursday morning. The Honda VFR400 will be a road legal track bike with a daytime MOT running a stand alone ECU which is fully tuneable.

The first part of the process is to lay everything out & work out the best places for parts to sit & to draw a wiring diagram ahead of starting the wiring.

Triumph Bonneville T120

Another Triumphant day at the mono motorcycles workshop. Nathan was preparing the Triumph Bonneville T120 for sale at DJK Motorcycles Ltd

The T120 is had it’s casings changed, was serviced & safety checks performed before it is on it’s way to a new home.

Join us on Saturday 29th January from 9.30-12.30 to discuss your service, repair, wiring & security needs. Tea, coffee & cake will available to purchase.
