International motorcycles & a full diary at mono motorcycles

Blog

It has certainly been a busy fortnight at the mono motorcycles workshop. With motorcycle makes from all corners of the globe joining us for service, repair, diagnostics, tyres, wiring & electrical faults & much more.

We have welcomed some giants of the motorcycling world & some of the most rare & eclectic; as varied as ever at the mono motorcycles workshop.

09.03.2020 – 10.03.2020 – Monday & Tuesday we welcomed a beautiful Ducati 996 to the mono motorcycles workshop.

The Ducati was with us for a full DESMO Cambelt change Major Service, which involved stripping the bike of its tank & fairings, removing the radiator & throttle bodies to enable the service to be completed.
All valve clearances were in tolerance on this check & the cambelts were replaced with authentic Ducati parts.
Following the DESMO service, Daniel replaced the starter & earth cables, arranged an MOT & then fully detailed the Ducati to make her demon red pop!

13.03.2020 – On Friday we welcomed a Suzuki 1200 Bandit to the mono motorcycles workshop, for fork seal replacement, tank drain & to helicoil the sump bolt.

Sprocket was lending a paw , but as he has no opposable thumbs; it was more of a supporting role, rather than practical one

14.03.2020 – Saturday we found an air leak coming from a inlet rubber on the Suzuki Bandit.

As we needed to move the carbs to gain access, it would have been a false economy not to strip & clean the carbs in the ultrasonic cleaner.

15.03.2020 – Sunday 15th March was our Open Morning & Breakfast Club.

Wow! How marvellous to see so many bikers getting out, socialising (at a safe distance) & simply enjoying the opportunity to get out & ride, have a great breakfast, enjoy each others company & support each other during this challenging time.

16.03.2020 – On Monday we welcomed a rare Malanca Vespetta Scooter to the mono motorcycles workshop as it wouldn’t start.

Daniel pulled the carb off to find the inlet blocked solid, not only that no fuel was coming out of the tap. As Daniel continued to take the carb apart, he found the entire thing was gummed up, most likely rust & two stroke oil.

Al the parts were ultrasonically cleaned, including the fuel tank. The top of the carb had a considerable crack in it when Daniel initially got the Malanca apart. This then fell apart, as it is has become brittle with age.

Once we had made our customer aware of the situation we put several plan’s in place to move forward. Daniel began trying to source a similar carb, our laser welder expert was given the original parts of the carb to see if they could be laser welded & our customer set about trying to source another original part. This is an on going process.
