MCL2024, CCM Motorcycles and a busy winter workshop at mono motorcycles

Blog

It’s been a busy fortnight here at the mono motorcycles workshop. Let’s take a look at what’s been happening here and at Motorcycle Live 24.

Motorcycle Live is the biggest motorcycle show in the UK. MCL is an opportunity for all of the big names in the motorcycle industry to gather together and showcase their brands, what is new and, what is on the horizon.

This year we feel greatly honoured to have been able to support CCM Motorcycles at the opening weekend of Motorcycle Live 2024.

The CCM stand was never quiet during that opening weekend and we spoke to current CCM owners, people new to the brand, new riders, established riders, and everything in between. The buzz around the CCM brand was fantastic and the positive reactions to the stunning CCM models was really reassuring.

It was also wonderful to see a few of our incredible British motorcycle racers pop in to say hello. Huge thanks to John McGuinness, Dean Harrison, Shaun Winfield, Fraser Rogers and Jaimie Van Sikkelerus.

We were also so lucky to meet Glen Irwin, Leon Haslam, Ben Currie, the uber amazing Alan Gardner – owner of OMG Racing and the man of the year and British Superbike Champion 2024 Kyle Ryde.

We are so proud to be able to support CCM owners in Sussex and Hampshire and we look forward to expanding our offering to sales and test rides. Keep an eye on our website, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube channels for all our latest updates.

We stayed up at the NEC for an extra day with our mono motorcycles hats back on as the Monday was trade day.

We took Tuesday off to recuperate, but sadly had to extend this as Daniel was taken ill on the Wednesday.

Back in the workshop and back on the bikes.

BMW 310 GS and Kawasaki Z1000SX

Last week  we welcomed a BMW 310 GS for an Interim Service and a Kawasaki Z1000SX for a NOCO Optimate Charger and FOC lead fitting (one of our winter offers)

Yamaha MT10

We also welcomed a Yamaha MT10 to the workshop with what the customer believed might have been a cam chain gone. Upon starting up the MT10 it was obvious that it was a bit more serious, and we swiftly turned the bike off.

The low end rattle was very loud and deep. Once we had drained the oil and checked the bottom of the bowl afterwards, the metallic chunks we found pointed towards the bike most likely having spun an engine bearing and in doing so, chewing up the insides of the engine.

The MT10 has now been retrieved by the owner while he decides on what to do next.

Yamaha R1

Lat week we also welcomed a Yamaha R1 race bike for servicing and some new tyres in advance of another European adventure. The obvious choice for the European track is to fit Dunlop KR109 and KR108 MS2 slicks for maximum grip.

BMW R1200R

Up on the ramp on Monday we welcomed a BMW R1200R for a Major Service.

Our customer has taken advantage of the winter months to sort his service now so the bike is ready to ride all year round.

Based on how busy we have been this year, we are encouraging those looking for servicing now and throughout 2025, to book well in advance.

Honda Shadow

This week we have welcomed back a regular visitor in the shape of a Honda Shadow. The Shadow joined us for a full brake overhaul. The rear brake was binding due to the pivot arm being rusty and not returning. We cleaned up and re-greased the pivot arm and replaced the rear brake shoes as part of the rear brake overhaul. The front brake disc had also warped and therefore we replaced the disc and pads on the front end too.

Ducati Hypermotard and Triumph Tiger Sport

The Ducati Hypermotard joined us for new cambelts and a Triumph Tiger Sport joined us for a NOCO Genius 1 charger and FOC charge lead fitting.

BMW R1200GS.

The BMWR1200GS joined us on Friday morning for an interim service, valve clearance checks and an MOT.
