mono motorcycles 2025 review.

Blog

So, as we head towards the end of 2025, we take a look back at what has certainly been a busy year for us all here at mono motorcycles.

January to March 2025.

We came into 2025 with our usual winter projects bubbling away on our ramps and made preparations for the Spring.

However, Spring had other ideas this year and decided to arrive a little early. As the sun burst through the winter cloud mid-February, suddenly the phone rang off the hook and before we knew it we were booking 6-8 weeks ahead.

The sun continued to shine pretty much from then on, with only the odd rain burst here and there and we went on to enjoy one of our best and sunniest summers in a while.

CCM visit.

On one of the coldest days in January, we took a trip up to the CCM factory in Bolton. The further north we went, the more snow there was.

It was an excellent visit and a great opportunity to meet the team we had got to know so well.

Spring Open Day 2025.

Our Spring Open Day 2025 was a fantastic celebration of the biking community and for some the first opportunity to get out on their bikes.

CCM Motorcycles were here for test rides, Dunlop Tyres showcased their latest tyres and food and drink was available all day.

DJK Motorcycles were open and plenty of discussions were had about the new season and riding opportunities for 2025.

A very exciting moment at our Spring Open Day was the arrival of Katy’s brand-new CCM Bobber. Delivered personally by the then CCM MD. It was certainly love at first sight for Katy and she was soon out on the road getting the miles in before here first service.

April to June.

As our diary continued to blossom and our work came in thick and fast, we also had plenty of other events in our diary.

Kickback Custom Bike Show 12-13th April.

As many of you know, Daniel is a wiring and electrical expert. As such, we are now the UK importer for the Axel Joost range of electrical modules and components.

To showcase the versatility of the Axel Joost range, we modified Katy’s CCM Bobber and Glenn’s CCM Street Tracker and took them both to the Kickback Custom Bike show at the Three Counties showground in the Malverns.

The Axel Joost components allowed Daniel to change the dash, switchgear and indicators on the Street Tracker and the switchgear and bar end indicators on the Bobber.

The Kickback Show is always such an excellent showcase for the custom bike scene.

Shop launch.

In late 2024 we started the process of launching an online shop. The purpose of the shop was to showcase the Axel Joost range of components and modules and then start to offer other specific electrical items and CCM parts.

As we came into 2025, we started to populate the shop and have since launched it and are adding to our offering as we expand.

Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.

For the past couple of years we have been invited by Chichester Council to have a stand at the DGR which is hosted in the Centre of Chichester.

We have always found this to be an excellent event for us as we get plenty of interest about who we are and what we can offer.

Breakfast Club’s 2025.

Regular visitors, customers and followers know that we host a Breakfast Club at the mono motorcycles workshop from April to October.

These little events have become quite a popular and regular part of the local biking community calendar and we were really luck with the weather this year too.

Oaklie gets his ACU license.

As many of you will know, Daniel is a seasoned track bike rider. Oaklie, a champion trials rider, is still not able to have a big bike on the road. However, this does not mean he cannot ride one on track!

Therefore, on a very hot day in June, we all headed up to Brands Hatch for an evening track day whereby Daniel and his friend Simon were able to take advantage of the track day and Oaklie was put through his paces for his ACU.

Oaklie absolutely loved every minute and of course was awarded his ACU.

This now means that Daniel and Oaklie can both head off on track days together and enjoy the various tracks across the UK.

CCM enters administration.

On 2nd June 2025 a very sad announcement was made on the CCM Facebook page. CCM had been placed into administration by its parent company Pitalia Capital.

We were not officially told and had to rely on information from people we knew at the factory and then subsequently trying to get any sense out of the administrator.

Sadly, as no buyer could be found for CCM as a going concern, Gateway Auctions have purchased the assets and as far as we are aware, CCM are not coming back.

This was a considerable blow to us and the local CCM community. We have continued to support the CCM community as much as we can, but having no access to any of the parts (kept in the factory in Bolton) has meant we have had to get creative with what we can offer.

Although we continue to support our CCM customers, the CCM bike sales part of the business we were building up, obviously had to end.

July to September.

As our diary continued to be jam packed and we were all working our socks off, we still managed to find some time for even more events and activities to promote mono motorcycles and enjoy biking.

July – Cotswold trip on the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro.

We managed to get a couple of smaller breaks this year before our main holiday in September.

One of the short breaks was a long weekend whizzing around the Cotswold’s on Daniel’s Triumph Tiger Rally pro.

We booked into an Air BnB and used this as a base to explore and take advantage of the beautiful Cotswold’s roads.

It was a fantastic weekend with us taking in as much of we could to maximize the time on the bike, whilst also taking time to enjoy the stunning scenery and wonderful places to visit and eat at!

September.

On Sunday 7th September 2025 we headed off to the Sammy Miller Museum for the second Kickback Custom Bike show of the year.

The Kickback show at Sammy Millers is such a great event with so many people from far and wide making the journey to see the custom bikes and gain access to the museum.

We were also invited to the launch of the Kickback Magazine at S Bomb.

Reactive Suspension – Bike Set Up training. 12th September.

On Thursday 11th September Daniel and Oaklie took a long trek north to York. The reason for their trek was to take part in a Bike Set Up course at Reactive Suspension on Friday 12th September.

We have been talking about offering suspension services for a while and having recently used the services of Reactive Suspension for a CCM rear shock, we were keen to take up the opportunity to offer this as a service.

Gareth Evans who started and runs Reactive Suspension started his engineering career as an apprentice marine engineer, learning traditional engineering skills.

Moving on to Higher Education, he studied Automotive Engineering. Upon graduation he joined Loctite Yamaha, the start of a career in British Superbikes, which included working for teams such as Old Spice Ducati, Red Bull Ducati, and Honda Britain.

The session was an incredible insight into suspension set up and how so many different elements can influence a rider’s experience.

Daniel and Oaklie came away from the course with a new found energy and eager to share their experience.

They didn’t have to wait long as our CCM Bobber owner who joined us on Thursday had already asked us to sort his suspension set up.

Once the measurements had been taken and the bike set up explicitly for the rider, he was really impressed with just how different the bike felt with the suspension set for him.

We are now offering individual suspension set up and will soon be offering specific suspension set up clinics on Saturday mornings. Keep an eye on our social media channels for more information.

Mallory Park – James Whitham track day training.

On Tuesday 16th September, Daniel and Oaklie headed off to Mallory Park for a James Whitham track day.

The Whitham track days are an opportunity for track bike riders to gain excellent instruction from some of the greatest riders in the business.

For this track day Daniel was being instructed by Davo Johnson a former Superstock racer and seasoned TT racer.

This was Oaklie’s first experience of riding at Mallory and having the incredible tuition from Tom Neave who is the reigning Pirelli National Superstock Champion.

October to December.

After our annual holiday at the end of September, it was back into the workshop with gusto as we started to make plans for our winter work.

Our diary stayed super busy right up until the end of November when our work shifted over to our winter projects and bigger jobs.

October Breakfast Club.

What a fantastic way to end this year’s breakfast club season. The sun shone and even though it was a little chilly, the morning was a sensational success.

November 2025.

In mid-November we welcomed Jack to the mono motorcycles team.

Jack is studying Motorcycle Level 1 at Chichester College, the very same course Oaklie took what seems like forever ago.

Jack is relatively new to riding and is gaining a lot of experience in Motocross.

Jack joined us initially for a trial day and as we all got along really well and he showed a genuine keenness to learn, a curious mind and a clear passion for bikes; it definitely was the right decision to offer him a part time job.

Jack will be working with us part time while he studies at Chichester College.

AJP PR7.

As Autumn arrived and we prepared for winter, we started to look at our options for 2026 and beyond.

After CCM was no more, we started to look at perhaps a different option to create an additional revenue stream.

It was at this point that Daniel found the AJP PR7.

The AJP PR7 runs the same engine as the CCM – the SWM 600cc single.

AJP Motorcycles is a Portuguese manufacturer of Enduro and Supermoto motorcycles producing single-cylinder bikes which could be seen as updated equivalents of Honda’s XR bikes from the 1980s or as an evolution of the CCM GP450. Modern technology has replaced much of the early design specs, especially in areas such as fuel injection, high quality suspension systems and frame components.

AJP Motorcycles was founded in 1987 by two brothers, António Pinto and Jorge Pinto’ in Penafiel, northern Portugal. AJP started as a workshop preparing off-road motorcycles and it was only later that the company diversified into manufacturing complete motorcycles.

The family values and the respect for the machinery is at the core of the AJP ethos with each AJP motorcycle being built by hand. In 2025 AJP invested in a new factory to improve production, a state of the art facility to cater for their growing business.

The AJP flagship bike is the ultimate lightweight adventure bike, the PR7. A 600cc adventure bike which you can ride around the world or locally off and on road, simply add panniers and off you go!

For 2025 the PR7 has undergone some significant changes. These include the frame geometry, air box design and filter change, improved aerodynamics for the windscreen and the addition of Angel Eyes lights to light up the trails at night!

The Gold Edition PR7 also comes with Ohlins suspension and some beautiful gold anodising.

Once we had contacted MHB Imports (the AJP PR7 importer) we started the process of becoming an official dealer.

Martin delivered our first AJP PR7 sales bikes and went through the process of showing us the PDI process and associated paperwork.

Late in November we got the approval and started the process of preparing for our first sales bikes. Before the bikes had even arrived, we had a gentleman contact us and put a deposit down. Our first PR7 was sold!

Since the beginning of December 2025 we have now sold two PR7’s with more interest coming at us left and right.

We are really excited about working with AJP UK and forging ahead with sales into 2026.
