mono motorcycles are open for service, repair, wiring, diagnostics & security
Hello everyone, we hope you are well & staying safe. We are still open, but working behind closed doors (which is so very odd)
At the beginning of the lockdown, we froze our calendar & moved our base of operations home. However, having listened every day to the Government press conferences & the guidance; it became clear that that we did fall into the “stay home, unless you cannot work from home” category. Although we had the eCUB & Daniel’s CUB set up; we very soon realised that we could work safely at the workshop.
We both are very lucky that we live together & work together, so moving back to the workshop meant we could still carry on working & restrict our social contact. This also meant having stringent COVID19 protocols in place at work, including strict pre-booking only, no waiting jobs, no ‘just show up’ work & NHS & key workers motorcycles being prioritised.
The COVID19 pandemic has not been without it’s challenges. Financially the pandemic has affected us as it has thousands of other businesses.
We have however been lucky enough to have benefited from a small Government grant to help with the rent & running costs, to which end we are hugely thankful.
Our fear, as with so many businesses which rely on a seasonal peak to support annual turnover, is the economic recovery when movement restrictions are altered.
However, one thing which has lifted us & keeps us going week after week, is the incredible support of our customers, social media followers, friends & family.
We have been blown away by the phone calls to see how we are, the sharing of our business pages to keep us in the public eye, the gifts left at our door & the offers of support coming from so very many corners. We are greatly humbled by the kindness everyone is showing us & we cannot thank you all enough.
Therefore, what have we been up to?!
You may have seen our recent blog about the Pendine Sands Yamaha R1 Daniel had been wiring up. Read the entire story about her transformation here:

We have begun to offer a Bespoke Wiring Diagram Drawing service.
After having been contacted by several home technicians fitting motogadget systems, we decided to offer the paid service. Our first customer who resides in Devon, wanted to install a motogadget m.unit blue to his bike, but didn’t know what to do with the cdi.
Daniel having spent time reading the original wiring diagram & ensuring he understood the customers requirements; hand drew the diagram. The process took 4 hours start to finish & our customer was really happy with the end result.
The motogadet wiring diagram wasn’t the only work to be completed at home.
What else would Daniel be doing at 10pm on a Monday bank holiday evening?! Yep making a wiring loom. Well actually extending the loom to a power commander for the Pendine Sands race bike.
Last week, we welcomed back the BMW NineT which we completed the first phase of it’s touring preparation in early March.
Last week the BMW NineT joined us for a full service, the wiring up of a SAT NAV & USB charge point & fitting of the side panniers. The panniers had to be modified to fit the NineT, despite the customer having been assured by Kriega that they would fit.
We have welcomed another Buell to the workshop.
The Buell XB12R, came to us with a random cutting out fault. It was dropping the supply to the ECU.
Daniel initially thought the issue was with the alarm as when it was moved the ignition switched off. However, the issue was still there with the alarm removed, even though it was full of water!
Through a process of assessment & testing; Daniel traced a break in a wire behind the headlight. Once repaired, the cutting out fault had been eradicated.
Check out the video of the work involved!
We welcomed an immaculate 2019 Suzuki GSXR 125 to the workshop for an exhaust swap over.
While we are in lockdown, we are doing everything we can to help you budding home technicians.
Not only are we offering Free Technical Advice, we have also undertaken a rebuild on a set of Yamaha Virago carbs sent to us in the post!
Once we have rebuilt the Yamaha Virago carbs, we will post them back & once the lockdown is lifted the Virago will join us for set up.
This week we welcomed a lovely bright green Kawasaki ER-6f to the mono motorcycles workshop.
The ER6 has benefited from a major service, a new arranged MOT & fitting a new Arrow exhaust system. system.
mono motorcycles love the kooky & the cool, so when we were approached by the owner of a gorgeous Honda z50 Trike; we were thrilled.
The Z50 had some minor MOT failure issued which needed addressing including a blown bulb, rear brake not working & a flat battery causing the horn to not sound. Once the MOT conditions were met, we returned the trike to her happy owner.
One of our regular customers, who is an A&E Nurse, called us a couple of weeks ago because his Hayabusa had broken down.
We were more than happy to recover it for him & under testing it was discovered that the Regulator Rectifier had failed.
With some parts supply chains struggling to cope with the COVID19 logistics, we have only just received the part this week. Once the new reg rec is in place, we can return the motorcycle & get this frontline worker back on the road.
Although we cannot meet up at the moment, it doesn’t stop us from getting together, albeit virtually.
With this in mind we have decided to have our very first ‘virtual’ breakfast club.
Join us live on our Facebook page on Sunday 26th April 9.30am-10.00am for our very first virtual breakfast club!
Let’s come together (albeit virtually) & get as many of us online having brekkie with our bikes!
Remember we are still taking calls & we are still making bookings. We do have strict COVID19 working protocols in place, which are there to protect us & you.
