mono motorcycles Custom & Classic Bike Show 2022 review. What an incredibly fantastic day!

After 9 months of planning, preparation, advertising, gathering bike entrants, booking trade, catering & a multitude of other things; the mono motorcycles first Custom & Classic Bike Show arrived!

We were very lucky to have been able to gain access to the hall the night before to set up the bike positions & put up some of our Dunlop banners. Dunlop were kind enough to sponsor our event & not only sent us banners & flags, but also a selection of merchandise for attendees at the show to benefit from.

At 7am on Sunday morning, Daniel & Katy headed down to The Pallant Centre, Havant, ably supported by their cheerleaders Pip, Carole (Katy’s Dad & Mum) Stu, T, Andy, Sarah, Glen & Will & it was all hands to the pump.

We had to get the trade stands up before we could get the bikes in the hall. We were joined by DJK Motorcycles, The Wheel Specialist, Fareham, Portsmouth MAG, Beaky Blinders (bakery), Muc-Off, EMP Tooling, Cogz & Gearz, JAA Custom Paint & SERV Wessex. We also had to get the banners up on the outside walls, get the posters on posts & lampposts around the town & set up the mono motorcycles promotional gazebo.

Alex from The Barleycorn Tavern in Nutbourne arrived with his catering unit (Alex supports us for our breakfast clubs) & started to cook breakfast options from 8am.

As the bikes started to arrive from 8.30am onwards, the show started to take shape & all of the planning seemed to be falling into place.

As the hall filled up with an incredible selection of motorcycles, visitors slowly started to arrive to & before we had officially opened the doors at 10am, we already had people paying to get into the show.

Once the doors were open there was a sudden buzz in the air & very quickly the car park started to fill with motorcycles & before we knew it, we had a queue of people waiting to get into the show! What an incredible start to the day.

The sun shone, the car park filled to overflowing, people checked out the bikes, visited trade stands, bought brownies from Beaky Blinders, chatted to other entrants, had breakfast then lunch from Alex & there was a steady stream of bikes & visitors throughout the morning.

Jamie from JAA Custom Paint set up in the hall with examples of his incredible air brush artwork. He started a demonstration of his amazing talent with a Nordic inspired image & continued to work on it throughout the day.

We then welcomed our independent Judge for the day Ian Thoburn of Bosuns Bikes. Ian is an avid motorcycle photographer & his website is an incredible journey through all of the events he visits. We also had our good friend James on site with his camera & recording equipment as our official videographer for the day. James not only took some incredible footage from the day, but he also recorded interviews with attendees, show entrants & Daniel & Katy.

By 1pm we had seen nearly 300 people come through doors. Alex was cooking nonstop all morning & as we got to lunchtime he changed the menu to offer lunchtime meal deals, which everyone really enjoyed.

As the sun continued to shine & visitors came & went, the judging for the show was well underway. By 2.30pm I had the list as presented by Ian & it was time to finish off the certificates to accompany the Golden Sprocket awards which Daniel had made for the winners. We had also decided that the winners should get access to some of the Dunlop merchandise as an extra bonus on top of them winning.

As Katy called the hall to attention it was time to read out the winners. Below is a list of the winner’s names. Some names have been omitted upon request of the bike owners.

Winner’s list from the show:

Best in Show – Pat & the Triumph Chop

Best Café Racer – Olly & the Honda CB750

Best Flat Tracker/Scrambler – Ian & the Honda VFR750

Best Paint – Keith & the Harley 48 Custom

Best Mini Mayhem – Rhys & the Honda C90 Custom

Best Custom – Chrome Royal Enfield

Best Modern Classic – Leon & the BMW Café Racing Bike

Best Classic – Roy & the Triumph Bonneville

Once the winners had received their awards & a flurry of photographs had been taken, the show slowly started to wrap up. The last of the visitors made their way back to their bikes, show entrants & trade started to pack away & the mono motorcycles cheerleaders began breaking down the show & packing it all away.

What an incredible day! Daniel & Katy would both like to say an enormous thank you to absolutely everyone who supported the day. We had so much positive feedback & heard “see you at the next show” & “when is the next show?” so many times, that we are already planning the next mono motorcycles Custom Bike Show for 2023.

Thank You
