mono motorcycles welcomes all makes & models & the eCUB build begins

Blog

We’ve certainly had a wide variety of motorcycles through our doors this week. Motorcycles from all corners of the globe have joined us for a variety of reasons.

It was wonderful to see so many people turn out for our second virtual breakfast club last Sunday. It was great to see friends & family joining in & saying hello, having a go at our little quiz & simply being there, supporting us along the way. Thank you everyone.

On Monday we certainly started the week with an international flavour in the mono motorcycles workshop.

First we welcomed a Triumph Street Triple this morning for some security upgrades. Remember we are suppliers & Thatcham approved installers for DATATOOL security options.

The Yamaha XS400 which we have been giving some TLC too, Daniel finally managed to re-thread the sump & the XS has now gone home.

On Monday afternoon we welcomed a BMW F650GS to the workshop for a stand adjustment & to remove the sump bolt which had been rounded off. The BMW arrived as a non runner & when Daniel had completed the works & tried to turn it over, the fuel pump was found to not be priming. Upon further investigation, it was found that the fuel pump had failed.

Once we had discussed the options with our customer, he decided to order a pump & have it sent to us, which he has done so. The BMW fuel pump is being put back together today, Friday.

On Wednesday we added a spot light bar, switch & relay to our good friend & supporter of mono motorcycles V-MAX & then set about rebuilding the clutch slave cylinder.

Few more pictures of the V-max, stripped the clutch slave cylinder & honed the ridge out before replacing the seals.

On Thursday Daniel began the Honda eCUB build, our first electric motorcycle build.

Daniel began the process of building the Shanghai Customs Honda eCUB which has a battery range of 30 miles at 30mph. This little marvel is more of a city or town commuter, rather than a long haul motorcycle. However, with a battery which can be charged in your home, this is a lightweight machine for the eco conscious city or town rider.

Some of you may remember we wired this RD250 up a couple of months ago. Well, the owner popped past on Thursday to show us the finished bike. Isn’t she beautiful! It’s really great when our customers come back to us & show us how we have been part of their beloved motorcycles journey.

On Friday we had a very ‘Triumphant’ day with a Triumph Bobber joining us in the morning for an interim service & new chain & sprockets. In the afternoon, we were joined by Triumph T120 for a brake fluid change, throttle balance & service light reset.

We feel very lucky that despite the difficulties we faced at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic & how fearful we were for our future; that our diary is now full again. We are so very grateful to all our wonderful customers, supporters, champions, family & friends for supporting us as a business & as a couple.
