MOT, Yamaha, Honda, CCM, BMW and Royal Enfield at mono motorcycles
It’s been a varied week here at mono motorcycles. Here’s a selection of some of the work we have completed this week.
Tuesday
On Tuesday we had double birthday celebrations. Oaklie turned 18 and our big fuzzball Axle turned 4.
We also welcomed two identical Honda CB500X’s to the workshop for Annual Servicing.
Then we welcomed a BMW K1300 for a check over and oil and filter check. At arrival our customer advised that he had picked up a puncture and could we look at repairs. We also noted that the bike was lazy to start and recommended a new battery.
Unfortunately, the plug in the rear tyre would not stick. Therefore, the customer agreed to go with a set of tyres which we thankfully had in stock.
Unfortunately, it was only when we were changing the front tyre that it was noted just how buckled the front wheel was. Once we made our customer aware, he did not feel safe riding the bike. We will now be sending the wheel off to Motoliner for repair and our customer took a taxi home.
We also welcomed a Honda Blackbird for a a charging fault. Under test Daniel found that the Blackbird was charging on only 2 of the 3 phases. He also noted that the plug to the reg/rec was unplugged, and the wiring and plug were in need of repair.
Oaklie fitted the stator the customer provided and put the battery on recovery overnight. Daniel will need to retest in the morning.
Wednesday
Wednesday was a catch-up day which included an MOT on a Stunning CCM Bobber.
We are now taking bookings for MOTs. Call Daniel or Katy on 01243 576212 / 07899 654446 or email us at info@monomotorcycles.co.uk
Thursday
First up we welcomed a BMW 1250GS for valve clearance checks only.
Next up we had the BMW R100 Custom up on the ramp to replace the fuel pipes. This customised beauty will be for sale soon through DJK Motorcycles Ltd
We also welcomed a Royal Enfield Meteor for fork seal replacement and a service.
We are also worked through several MOTs, alongside catching up with smaller projects which parts are now arriving for.
Friday
On Friday we welcomed a ’24 plate Honda Forza 350 for its 1st Service and to fit heated grips, a USB port, SAT Nav cable and a charging plug for an optimate. As we are VAT registered, we can complete service work on new motorcycles. As long as we use genuine parts, it does not harm a warranty.
We also welcomed a Yamaha Diversion XJ6 to the workshop.
The XJ was originally booked in for an Annual Service and to assess why the headlight had blown. Under investigation it was noted that the chain was very worn, and the links were sticking. The sprockets were also very worn. The rear brake pads and rear disc were worn and the tyres were both worn close to the legal limit. Our customer has agreed to have the additional repairs completed which we will finish next week.
We also welcomed a Ducati Scrambler to have the fork stanchions replaced in advance of a fork seal replacement. The original stanchions on the Scrambler were quite rusty, hence the need for the replacement.
