Last week began with our visit to The Emsworth Show (27.08.18). What a fantastic day it was too. Our new promotional gazebo got it’s first airing & we had plenty of people come & chat to us during the day. Lots of people were very interested to know that we had a workshop so close to Emsworth. We met the very welcoming chaps from the Waterlooville Motorcycle Club & spent some time chatting about our mutual interests.

One of the people who came & spoke to us at The Emsworth Show was the Mayor of Havant. We feel very honoured that he will be joining us for our Charity Christmas Quiz in aid of SERV Wessex.

Tuesday 28th August saw us returning to the workshop, where we welcomed an Yamaha R1 & Triumph Street Triple R. The R1 required fork seal replacements & brake pads, the Triumph was in for brake pads, in advance of a 12000 mile service. When the R1 arrived, we noted that the the stanchion was badly damaged & the chrome had gone through to the metal. As this was exactly where the seals rested, we advised the customer that really the stanchion needed replacing.

Our two long term guests continued to be worked on throughout last week. As is always the case with major regeneration works, you have to expect the unexpected. The Buell, which is so very close to an MOT, let us know that her suspension dampener was badly damaged & only on closer inspected, was it identified that her RH handlebar was kinked. More parts on order & soon…oh so very soon, she can be returned to her owner.

We finished early last week & headed off to the North Gloucester hills & the Castle Combe Race Circuit. We were spectators at the NGRRC Grand National & what a weekend it was!  With motorcycles ranging from the Dymag 250GP ACU National Championship, to Desmo Due Series, Black Widow Formula Prostocks Suzuki 600 Bandit Challenge, FSRA British F2 Sidecar Championship & beyond; the racing didn’t fail to entertain & inspire all weekend.

The atmosphere at Castle Combe is unsurpassed by any other. The paddock area is open to the general public, so you are able to experience up close the effort & energy required to run a racing team. Everyone is very approachable & they always have time for a chat.

Some of the guest this year included Ian Hutchinson, Leon Haslam, Steve Parrish, Freddie Spencer, Peter Hickman & Maria Costello MBE.

When we returned to the workshop on Monday after a fully immersive racing weekend, it was back to our customers motorcycles.

We welcomed a Honda CBS 1100 for a major service & valve clearance check. The procedure, as we have explored before, is very time consuming as not only does the motorcycle need to be mostly stripped, but the process of checking valve clearances cannot be rushed. Ensuring valve clearances are checked at the correct intervals, ensures a smooth running motorcycle & prolongs the longevity of the motorcycle engine.

On Wednesday we undertook an interim service, detailing & MOT for a BMW 1150 GS, prior to the sale of the motorcycle.

The Rossi livery Honda Fireblade added a splash of colour to the workshop & her owner was very happy that we had been able to identify that the forks were twisted in the yokes. Following a quick adjustment, they were reset & the customer was on his way.
