Motorcycle service, diagnostics, repair & seasonal detailing at mono motorcycles
With the amount of rain which has fallen recently, the expression “we’re gonna need a bigger boat!” wouldn’t be far from the truth.
However, despite the inclement weather, the mono motorcycles workshop is still full, our diary is still booking 4-6 weeks ahead & we are still revelling in the opportunity to help & support bikers & their beloved machines.
At the beginning of this week, Daniel finally completed the bespoke wiring loom to the beautiful Arlen Ness built by P & D Custom Bikes. 36 hours in total including drawing the loom & hiding the wires through the bars.
Last week the giant Triumph Thunderbird joined us with a charging fault. Having diagnosed that the pin from the plug which goes from the regulator rectifier to the battery was faulty & the new plug having arrived on Tuesday; Daniel fitted the new plug & the Triumph is now charging & has headed home.
Wednesday morning we welcomed a very clean & well looked after Suzuki GSXR 600 SRAD. The SRAD joined us for major servicing.
When the SRAD arrived at the mono motorcycles workshop, it was noted that it was only running on two of it’s four cylinders. When Daniel road tested it upon arrival, it felt very lumpy & erratic at idle. As part of the major servicing, we always check all valve clearances. These were all within tolerance.
Therefore, following a conversation with our customer & with his agreement; Daniel then stripped, cleaned & rebuilt the carburettors. Once stripped he found that two screws had been rounded off, supporting his theory that the carbs had previously been attended to. In addition, he found that all the air screws were irregularly set, which would most definitely of not helped the running issues identified.
Once the carbs had been rebuilt, replaced & rebalanced & the SRAD reassembled;Daniel took the SRAD for her next test ride.
Daniel having owned a few GSXR’s in his time, knows the performance capabilities of the motorcycle. Upon his return, his exact words were “sweet as!” meaning that the SRAD ran perfectly.
Our other guest on Wednesday was the lovely Triumph Street Twin.
This wonderful motorcycle joined us for a full machine detail, ACF50 winter prep treatment & Nano/Ceramic seal coating to all the paintwork, panels & wheels. Daniel also acid etched the pipes of the Triumph, to ensure they looked immaculate.
All of the detailing processes mono motorcycles undertake as part of a full machine detail, not only ensure the motorcycle looks stunning, but the processes help maintain & prolong the life of the motorcycle’s external parts, protects the underneath & frame from seasonal debris & protects the paintwork from water & UV damage. Our detailing packages begin at £160.00 + VAT. For more information & videos about our detailing, check out the mono motorcycles YouTube channel or head over to our website
Thursday morning we welcomed the KTM 950 Adventure to the mono motorcycles workshop.
The KTM has joined us for a sporadic & intermittent cut out fault assessment & coil replacement.
The carbs of the KTM have also been ultrasonically cleaned, as requested by our customer. Upon inspection, all of the jets were clogged. These have all been blown out with an air line & the carbs refitted & rebalanced.
On Friday we had a very BMW themed day at the mono motorcycles workshop.
The BMWR1250RT joined us first thing for a puncture repair & diagnostic sweep. The BMW F650 GS joined us for an interim service & we arranged an MOT. The BMW C1 joined us for pre MOT checks & we arranged an MOT.
Despite the changeable weather, we are still planning to hold our last Breakfast Club of 2020.
However, as a sign of respect for the PC Harper ride of respect which has now been organised on the 27th October, the same day as our Breakfast Club; we are seeking to change the date of our Breakfast Club to 3rd November. Whichever date it will be held on & whatever the weather; we hope to welcome as many people as possible, whether on two wheels or in your cars. We are planning on reconfiguring the workshop, to enable more people to mingle inside & our new customer area will also be open, where Hoodies, T-Shirts & all manner of Rider Essentials will be on sale.
