Our first full week back & our first full week of 2020!

This week we have seen some amazing wiring transformations, professional paint correction detailing, service & repair, trials bike success stories & a family story to warm all our hearts.

Sprocket attended his first trial last week & got on really well, taking all the two stroke cracking exhausts in his stride. While Daniel traversed the very steep & very slippery Horsham hills; Katy & Sprocket followed as best they could, taking in the woodland scenery on a chilly Sunday morning.

Our first wiring project of 2020 has arrived in the form of a Suzuki VX800 trike. The trike came to us as a non runner with the conversion & electrics having been modified elsewhere.

Daniel has been tasked with getting the trike running & ensuring that the electrics are safe. The customer purchased the trike as a running bike, however upon receipt, the trike ran for a few moments, then cut out. The wiring was in need of some considerable attention, including making certain areas safe, as there appeared to be some live feeds exposed against bare metal & were a potential fire hazard.

On Monday, Daniel began stripping out the old loom, to add in another loom (supplied by the customer) from a donor Suzuki.

Our little Passola guest, having been tucked away in a garage for 30 years, now runs like a dream, has been serviced & has new shoes & went through the MOT on Thursday with no issues.

The owner, who rode the Passola in her youth, is getting ready to gift it to her daughter, who is now old enough to ride. Such a lovely family story

On Wednesday we welcomed a Repsol Repsol CBR1000RR for full machine detailing & seasonal protection.

Here at Mono motorcycles all of our Detailing includes full paint correction, unlike so many other “Detailers” Daniel Morris having trained & become the South Coast “Zymol licensed Detailer” (Zymol are the producers of the worlds most expensive waxes) won many Concour-de-elegance awards & had contracts with Aston Martin & Ferrari back in 2005-07.

On Thursday we welcomed the missile that was the BMW S1000RR. The S1000RR joined us  for a valve clearance check.

Daniel Morris got a mention in this weeks TMX News, following his great result in the New Years Eve Waltham Chase Trial ‘Clubman Class’.

Daniel, having ridden with the WASPS (The Waltham Chase Motorcycle Club) starting at the age of 7 in the 1980’s; has rekindled his passion for trials, with many more planned for 2020.

On Friday, having received extra parts from our customer, Daniel was back on the Suzuki VX800 trike wiring project.
Having powered up the rear light clusters (remembering the Trike was a non start upon receipt earlier in the week) Daniel discovered not only were the rear lights not road legal, but they would not pass a British MOT.

Trikes, dependent on width of chassis, require different rear light set up’s. In this case, the lights fitted were incorrect for a UK MOT. Therefore, Daniel used the light rig from a trailer board to fit forward facing marker lights, rear brake lights, indicators & side lights on the wings.
