Motorcycles modifications, upgrades & wiring at mono motorcycles
Bank Holiday Monday saw Daniel & Katy at the workshop all day, with plenty of projects to be tackled & catching up to be done.
We began Monday still beaming from the success of our V Twin & Hotrod Breakfast Club on Sunday 26th May.
Wow! In excess of 70 bikes, hotrod’s, V Twin display, friends, customers, familiar faces, new faces, mono motorcycles family, South Coast Bikers & Buns to Banquets.
It was a fantastic morning filled with like minded souls sharing stories, full of laughter, tales of the track, tales of touring, tales of biking.
People catching up with friends & making new ones.
For Daniel & Katy, that’s what biking is all about & we look forward to seeing everyone & more on Sunday 23rd June for our next Breakfast Club!
Bank Holiday Monday we worked all day to ensure we were ahead of the game for the rest of the week. Therefore, Daniel was able to make a start on the Honda CRF450.
Her new owner had brought her to us with charging issues, kick start slipping & the speedo cable not working. The engine seems sound, as Daniel was able to ride the CRF before the strip down.
During her strip down, Daniel found the speedo cable snapped in 3 places, speedo worm drive chewed, the inner clutch hub damaged, kick start gears chewed, extensive fork oil leak & electrical issues which need addressing. Motocross bikes are hard wearing, hard riding bikes, which is why they need to be maintained & looked after to keep their performance tip top.
Having contacted our customer, he has advised that the speedo is not a priority, but wishes to proceed with the rebuild. All the parts are on order, some on back order & the CRF will be back in with us later in June.
First thing Tuesday morning, a Triumph Tiger 1200 XRT joined us for an interim service, service light reset & check over in advance of a European tour.
To continue an ‘adventure bike’ theme, a regular customer’s KTM 1290 Super Adventure was recovered to us Tuesday morning.
She had juddered to a halt on Sunday with no warning, however the oil light had come on. By the description given, the first thought was oil pressure issues.
An initial investigation of the KTM, showed the oil filters had crumpled & filings in the oil indicate low pressure. Daniel also discovered that a spring which sits below the oil filter was missing.
With new filters, oil & a 30 mile test ride to check all was as it should be; the KTM was reunited with her very relieved owner.
Tuesday was a very busy day at mono motorcycles, as we also welcomed The Yamaha R1 in her popping Yellow livery. As her owner intends on using her for track days, it was time for new discs, pads & a full caliper rebuild.
On Wednesday we welcomed back Alex’s Tangerine Orange Z1000 for yet more bling!
So far this week she has benefited from: full fork overhaul with new updated springs, full front caliper rebuild with new discs & pads, replacing headstock bearings, front wheel bearings & an MOT!
Thursday was very much a catch up day, as we had been waiting for parts to arrive. The Aprilia Falco now has a working fan & no fault codes. The Harley Shovelhead has a new carb fitted & is nearly ready to go home.
Friday we welcomed the Triumph 675 R Daytona track bike to the workshop.
Having been kept pretty much pristine for a couple of years, her owner now has the track bug & needs her tip top for a season of 2019 track days. Therefore, we have a few mechanical issues to resolve today & new front brake pads; but we are mainly fitting her new body kit in advance of her being professionally wrapped! Watch this space!
We have re-posted our Kit up! Zip up! Blog from last year, in advance of what looks like a heat wave headed towards the UK.
Mono motorcycles are always mindful of motorcycle safety, both for the motorcycles & their riders. If you know anyone who is tempted to not Kit up! Zip up! In hot weather, then please do share our blog to try & dissuade them. Thank you.
We are starting to ramp up planning & preparation for monofest1 at The Barleycorn on Saturday 6th July.
We are so excited to have Zoe Cano – Author, Travel Writer & Adventurer joins us to chat to people about her adventures & you can pick up signed copies of her new book “Hellbent for Paradise” – Tales from Aotearoa, Land of the Long White Cloud.
We also have Jamie Gladman of JAA Custom Paint joining us with examples of his exceptional artwork. SERV Wessex will join us to raise awareness of the outstanding work they do & it gives us an opportunity to raise funds for them, as they are solely reliant on public donations. mono motorcycles will have a small custom motorcycle display, showcasing some of the amazing motorcycles we have worked on over the last couple of years. We hope to have live music over the lunchtime slot, an outdoor & indoor bar, BBQ & street food! All we need now is you to join us & have a fantastic day celebrating motorcycles, adventure & friendship!
