Sunny days and motorcycles galore! Another busy week at mono motorcycles.

Monday

What a way to start the week! Monday was absolutely packed, and the sunshine definitely brought everyone out.

First up, we had a Royal Enfield Guerrilla in for its first service, alongside a Triumph T120 for its annual service and MOT.

Once those were sorted, Oaklie got stuck into a Royal Enfield Himalayan for a 6k service and a fresh set of tyres.

Meanwhile, Jack finished up on the Triumph and moved on to a Honda CBR 125.

The owner mentioned the bike had started cutting out over the weekend. After a bit of digging, we found a blown main fuse.

We popped a new one in, tested everything, and it seemed grand. Unfortunately, the gremlins struck again on the way home. The customer stopped off for a bit, and the bike refused to start.

Even though it ran perfectly when it left the workshop, there’s clearly an underlying issue here. We’re getting the bike recovered back to us tomorrow to get to the bottom of it.

Next on the ramps was a Sym Orbit for its annual service, quickly followed by a Kawasaki ZZR1400 in for a service and MOT.

Daniel spent the day recommissioning a Triumph Sprint GT. This one had been sitting immobilised for five years after the alarm gave up the ghost. Daniel stripped out the old alarm wiring, gave it a full service, fitted a new battery, and she fired right up and ran beautifully. Just a few more checks to do before we send it for an MOT.

Tuesday

Another absolute scorcher today! We had every fan on full blast, the air con chugging away, and drank gallons of squash just to keep going.

Oaklie spent his entire day on an AJP PR7. It was booked in to have the top suspension bush and bearings replaced, which meant stripping off the seat and fuel tanks. Of course, the customer had filled the tanks right to the brim just before dropping it off, so draining the fuel became job number one!

With the rear end stripped, Oaklie replaced the bush and bearings and fitted an X-TRIG pre-load adjuster to the rear shock to make manual setup easier. During the strip-down, we found a proper bodge: a previous mechanic had stripped the thread on the main shock bolt nut and just glued it back on instead of replacing it! Unbelievable. The AJP also got a new stator, a repaired stator plug, and a new IVAC valve. We even managed to squeeze the MOT in with literally minutes to spare on our daily login.

Over on the other ramp, Jack serviced a Suzuki GSXR 125. He noticed the rear brake was binding badly, so he stripped, cleaned, and rebuilt it before putting the bike through its MOT.

Daniel, meanwhile, was tasked with resealing the sump on a BMW S1000XR. Now, the book says you don’t need to remove the exhaust for this, but once Daniel got looking, a few of the sump bolts were far too close to the pipes to get a clean seal. He made the executive decision to pull the exhaust off. It took a bit longer, but it meant the sump could be cleaned properly, resealed, and torqued down perfectly. Definitely the right call for a leak-free finish.

Thursday (& Weds)

31°C in the workshop! Safe to say our little air con unit and the fans have been working overtime, and we’ve gone through gallons of squash over the last couple of days.

On Wednesday, we had a lovely BMW R9T in for a service and MOT, followed by a Kawasaki Z900 which got a fresh rear tyre, a performance air filter, and a brand-new chain and sprockets.

Thursday started with a brand-new Royal Enfield Himalayan in for its very first service, followed by a Suzuki V-Strom for its annual service and MOT.

Then we had a KTM 890 Adventure in for a few wiring tweaks and a front wheel rebalance, quickly followed by a Honda CBR1000 for some wiring mods of its own and an MOT.

To wrap up a very warm Thursday, we welcomed a Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 for its second-year service.

Friday

On Friday we welcomed a Honda CB125R for a full service followed by a Royal Enfield Bear 650. The Bear joined us for a 12 month service.

We also welcomed a Triumph tiger 800 for its first service.

We also welcomed back ‘Stan’ the Yamaha Dragstar for a new set of fork seals in the afternoon.

Events.
