Triumph, Yamaha, CCM, Service, Repair, MOT training

Blog

Another busy fortnight including training, events and a packed diary. Lets take a look at some of the bikes we have welcomed in the past couple of weeks.

Week commencing 13th May 2024

Our week was dominated by us both heading off to Kent for our MOT training.

After two days of intense training, lots of legislation and MOT law we both passed our MOT training. Daniel is now a qualified MOT tester and Katy is a qualified AEDM – Authorised Examiner Designated Manager.

Our certificates will take a couple of weeks to arrive. We then have to send them on to the DVSA. Then we have to invite the DVSA to our MOT testing centre to observe Daniel doing a test and then and only then will we be signed off.

We are so close, and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported us on our journey to get here.

Thank You all of you.

When we returned from our training, we had one day in the workshop and then at the weekend we were invited to have a stand at the West Sussex Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride with the end of the ride being hosted by Chichester Council.

We had a great day meeting lots of new people and raising our profile in the community.

Week commencing 20th May 2024

We have had a week dominated by Triumphs this week.

Triumph Rocket III.

The Rocket joined us to change the gear position sensor and TPS.

Triumph Speedmaster

The Triumph Speedmaster has joined us for Major Servicing, new brake pads, chain and sprockets and new tyres.

CCM Roadster and CCM Heritage

This week we have looked after another two stunning CCM Motorcycles, welcoming a CCM Roadster and CCM Heritage to the mono motorcycles workshop.

mono motorcycles are the CCM Motorcycles Approved Service and Repair Centre for the South Coast.

We have also been very busy with other booked in work and re-booking work which has become over hanging.

Earlier in the week welcomed a new Yamaha MT-10 for it’s First Service.

We have also welcomed a very clean low mileage Yamaha R1 this week for a hesitation at low revs. Although balancing the carbs has helped, it is most likely also linked to the fact this bike had had iridium plugs fitted, which are not suitable for the bike. We have replaced the plugs with the right ones for the R1 and the hesitation has now gone.

A Triumph Thruxton R joined us for safety checks and arranging an MOT. During the safety checks we found the rear pads were very very low. These are now on order and will be fitted shortly.

At the end of last week we welcomed a giant in the biking world, a Yamaha V-max 1700. The V-max had lost power under load and when the bike arrived it was only running on two cylinders. Under investigation the plugs were found to be seized in place and one of the coils had corroded into the cylinder head. It took Daniel two hours just to get the plugs and coil out! These parts are being replaced and while we are in there, the valve clearances will be checked. this is ongoing.

We currently have several motorcycles with a cumulative 40 hours outstanding work on due to our current backlog. This has been caused by most of these bikes having considerably more issues than first envisaged, parts being on long lead times and faults being more extensive. We are working hard to clear the bottleneck and hope to open the diary back up towards the end of June. Stay with us, we are working hard for you.

A trio of Tigers!

This week we have welcomed three Tigers to the workshop.

The Triumph Tiger GT Pro joined us for crash repairs and a service.

The Triumph Tiger Rally Pro joined us for a new clutch (burnt out on Moroccan tour) new brake pads all round, service, new air filter and deep clean to remove the sand!

The Triumph Tiger XCX has joined us for fitting of spotlights.
