Yamaha, Suzuki, Harley, BMW & more @ mono motorcycles

Blog

We’ve all been feeling a bit blue this week. Not because we are sad, but it seems to have been a predominant colour of the motorcycles we have welcomed through our doors.

Monday

First up on the ramp this week we welcomed a Yamaha VMAX to the workshop. The VMAX joined us for servicing & new tyres.

On Monday afternoon we welcomed a beautiful Harley Davidson Sportster 48 for Full Professional Detailing & Ceramic Coating. The gloss paint & powder coat pop’s under the workshop lights & the Ceramic Coating gives such an intense shine.

Tuesday

Last Saturday we welcomed back our customer’s Triumph Tiger 1200 XRT. While we were changing the tyres a couple of weeks ago, Daniel noticed play in the rear wheel bearing.

We agreed with our customer to order some bearings & see if we could rectify the issue for him.

However, as Daniel began stripping down the rear differential, it became apparent that the bearings we had been sold, were not the main bearings. When we called our supplier, we found out that you cannot purchase a bearing kit & therefore the only resolution was to purchase a complete differential from Triumph at £1200.

We therefore offered our customer an alternative & that was to purchase a non genuine bearing & attempt to remove the main bearing from the rear differential.

With a bit of heat, some industrial looking pullers & some serious elbow grease; Daniel removed the bearing & rebuilt the rear differential with the new main bearing.

On road test the play had disappeared & the Triumph rode smoothly.

We get to meet the most incredible people through our work & today was no exception. Today we met Nigel Tailyour & his BMWR1200 with 234340 kms on the clock!

Having literally travelled around the world with his wife Sharyn on the back, this lovely man completely inspired us all this morning with his travel tales. If you want to read more, please find Nigel’s blog here https://londontoalaska.wordpress.com/

Wednesday

Wednesday was all hands to the pump! With some motorcycles still being with us due to parts shortages, tasks being more in depth than we could have imagined & additional issues being found along the way; Wednesday included:

  • MT09 service
  • Triumph Fork seals & motogadet dash
  • GSXR headstock bearings
  • Making wiring loom for DT250
  • Carb rebuild on the XS1100

Thursday

On Thursday Daniel got back onto the wiring for the Triumph Daytona. The Customer had already fitted a motogadget motoscope pro dash, but asked Daniel to complete the wiring for him.

We are so excited to have our Breakfast Club return in just over a weeks time on Sunday 27th June.

We have a charity fundraiser for The Royal British Legion, delicious breakfasts, time to catch up with friends & our good friend Danny will be opening the doors of DJK Motorcycles: Sales-Storage-Transport too. Lots going on, lots to look forward to!

We are currently booking from September 2021 & therefore if you are looking for Service, Repair, Wiring, Electrical diagnosis or Detailing, please do book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
