Friday 30th November was the mono motorcycles Charity Christmas Quiz in aid of SERV. Katy spent the day with her Mother, Carole Mason, baking some of the delicious festive treats for the attendees in the evening.

Once we arrived at The Pallant Centre, Havant, it was all hands to the pump! Pip Mason (Katy’s Dad) set the scene alongside Will Coulston & Kevin West , while Nathan Morris busied himself laying tables. Carole Mason set up the festive treats table, while Katy focused on the raffle. A real team effort was complimented by Pauline West , Trudie Coulston & Maria Leonard.

Richard Hobden one of the SERV volunteers brought the liveried SERV bike with him & his colleague attended with the liveried SERV car. All of the funds raised at the evening went directly to keeping these valuable vehicles on the road to enable the SERV volunteers to deliver blood, human milk, small medical equipment, X-Rays & other vital medical supplies to NHS hospitals across Britain.

Back at work the next Monday (03.12.18) we had a very classic flavour to start us off.

The Kawasaki Z1000 joined mono motorcycles  to sort out timing issues.  When the Kawasaki arrived, she would not run. Once Daniel Morris had fitted a new set of points & condenser & set the timing up. However, due to wear in the components, he struggled to get the timing spot on.

Daniel advised the customer that the best way forward would be to convert the Kawasaki Z1000 to an electronic ignition & gave the customers two options to choose from. One being to repair the plates & screws, the other to upgrade to an electronic ignition. Our customer has decided to update to the electronic ignition system, which we will be fitting next week.

The other classic which joined us at the start of this week was a BSA Bantam 175. Our customer was struggling to get the BSA to start & run effectively.

Daniel discovered upon investigation, that the timing ignition was out. Once the plug & points had been replaced & the timing set up,  Daniel got the BSA running.

The Norton Commando is finally complete. After finding that the stator magnet had disintegrated, in addition to the stator & starter burning out subsequently been replaced, the Norton now runs smoothly & will now give her owner the reliability he needs.
