Triumph, KTM, Ducati’s & May sunshine @ mono motorcycles, Funtington.

Blog

The warm May weather has brought everyone out in to the sunshine & motorcyclists up & down the country are taking full advantage. This week mono motorcycles have welcomed new customers & existing/returning customers in to the workshop.

As we head in to the weekend, we have a regular customer/friends RC8 in for a full service & re-map, prior to being sold as part exchange for a BMW RR.

mono motorcycles started the week with more wiring to the Triumph Trophy 650. Once the loom had been completed & put in place, it was discovered there was a break in one of the wires. Daniel quickly managed to locate this & reconnect to ensure a good connection was made.

Tuesday saw a very clean Yamaha R1 in for a full service. The owner of the R1, a very keen motor racing fan is off to the TT next week &  wanted to ensure the R1 was serviced prior to the trip.

Paul Myers of MCi Tours with his KTM Adventure, returned after a 10 day heritage tour of Spain with a minor coolant leak.  After removing all of the panels from the KTM, no mean feet on its own, Daniel then had to remove the fuel tank to top up the coolant.

To continue with the KTM theme, we have a KTM 950 Supermoto in the workshop this week for a major service, new tyres & full detail. The Supermoto needed to be entirely stripped to enable the valve clearances to be checked.

One of our new customers brought his Ducati 600 Monster Dark in for cambelts towards the end of the week. The adjusting of the belts means that if they are not adjusted correctly, the motorcycle’s timing will be out of synch. To ensure alignment & balance is maintained, the cambelt & crank sprockets are marked up prior to remove of the old cambelts. This ensures they realign once the new belts are fitted.

Another Ducati Monster was booked in to mono motorcycles this week, but only part of it arrived. The owner is having trouble with the Ducati juddering at about 70mph & wondered if it was the carbs. Therefore, we had them in for a full ultrasonic clean. The process of course involves removing the jets prior to the ultrasonic clean, otherwise they would corrode.

The Buell continues to be dismantled, as although the gearing bearings do sound worn, it would not justify the level of noise heard when she was started up.
