mono motorcycles 2018 review. What a year it has been!
So here we are, hurtling towards the end of 2018 & what a year it has been for Daniel, Katy & mono motorcycles.
The story of the mono motorcycles workshop began on Christmas Day 2017. Daniel & Katy were out for an afternoon drive & Daniel had already seen that Bairds Farm had units for rent. Having scouted out the farm, they both decided it would be perfect. Within the first week of January 2018, paperwork had been signed & Unit’s C4 & 5 New Barn were to become the home of the mono motorcycles workshop.
Daniel had already begun to build a good reputation amongst local & long distance motorcycle owners & riders, as in his first year of trading he was a mobile technician. In that first year he aligned himself with industry leader in motorcycle security solutions, DATATOOL & had already begun to gather repeat customers calling upon his expertise.
Once the contract had been signed for Unit C4 & 5 New Barn, the workshop began to take shape.
In amongst the workshop build, Daniel was also rebuilding the engine on long term supporter & friend of mono motorcycles Mark A’s Kawasaki ZZR1400. The original engine had been destroyed by a valve dropping sideways & breaking the piston.
Mark A had toyed with purchasing a new motorcycle after the engine had been destroyed, but his beloved ZZR1400 had done him proud, so he bought her a new engine, which Daniel dutifully fitted for him.
Following a full rebuild & a full machine detail, the Kawasaki ZZR1400 glowed in the February sunlight & the mono motorcycles workshop was officially open.
To celebrate the opening of the workshop, Daniel & Katy held an Open Day. Friends & family, customers, suppliers & the SERV Wessex Blood Bikers all turned out to support the official Open Day.
Despite the extensive Winter at the beginning of 2018, the mono motorcycles calendar soon began to fill with more & more bookings.
One such booking came from Daniel’s long time friend Cieran H. Cieran had two motorcycles which had not been ridden for up to 10 years, which he decided he wanted to get back on the road. On one of the snowiest days in February 2018, Daniel & Katy braved the elements to travel to the Kent border to collect them.
The Yamaha FZR & Suzuki TL100R were brought to the mono motorcycles workshop & over the next month & half, with a plethora of parts to source, replace & repair, the two motorcycles were painstakingly brought back to life.
We were lucky enough when we first looked at the mono motorcycles workshop, to notice that the unit next door belonged to MCi Tours. We have since serviced both of the main motorcycles which are used for the business, but the KTM1050 Adventure, due to the sheer mileage accrued, has come to mono motorcycles for several pairs of new tyres & services during 2018.
April saw another celebration as it was mono motorcycles official First Birthday. Again, supporters, family & friends of mono motorcycles joined us for a celebration of mono motorcycles.
One of our first major project motorcycles was brought to us by Colin, whom we met at the First Birthday celebration. His Buell Firebolt, which he had had since new, had ground to halt some five years previously & he was looking for someone to bring her back to life.
The Buell Firebolt project was extensive, with parts being shipped abroad to be rebuilt, components being sourced globally & many lessons being learnt along the way. However, ultimately Daniel achieved his goal & the Buell was brought back from the brink.
mono motorcycles have welcomed a variety of custom motorcycles this year with a variety of service, repair, restoration & security needs.
In addition mono motorcycles have also seen a fair share of classic motorcycles come through the doors. Norton Commando’s, Jawa, Triumph Trophy, BSA Bantam, Lighting, Thunderbolt & now a BSA C10 to name but a few of the amazing classic machines Daniel has serviced & restored during 2018.
mono motorcycles have welcomed motorcycles of all brands, CC’s & models through the mono motorcycles doors this year. Here are just a few of the makes & models mono motorcycles have serviced, repaired, restored, re-wired or fitted DATATOOL security solutions to.
mono motorcycles have had a packed social calendar since the workshop opened. The mono motorcycle breakfast clubs which ran every fourth Sunday of the month were a great success & the first mono motorcycles Christmas Charity Quiz raised a whopping £1060 for SERV Wessex Volunteer Riders.
One of our developing collaborations this year has been with Jamie Gladman of J.A.A Custom Paint. Jamie has created stunning artwork for a few of the mono motorcycles customers motorcycles this year & we look forward to the Jamies Airbrushed Art Showcase on Sunday 3rd March at the mono motorcycles workshop.
This is only a snapshot of the mono motorcycles year 2018 (watch out for the 2018 review video on Monday 31st December)
