Motorcycle Service and repair. All makes, all models at mono motorcycles, Chichester

Blog

It’s been another busy week here at the mono motorcycles workshop and the sun has even put a look in occasionally.

Sunday

Last Sunday (06.08.23) we managed to get out on the bikes for a few hours in the sunshine. We started off with a delicious breakfast at The Crate Cafe & Bar and then a rode up through the downs to Petersfield Lake for a cuppa.

Monday

On Monday we welcomed two modern classics to the workshop. First up, the Suzuki GSX-R 750 Slabside which joined us for a carb overhaul and set up and the Triumph T100 Bonneville which joined us for a service after its recent 3000-mile rally.

Tuesday

Up on the ramp on Tuesday we welcomed a Honda VTR 250 for Annual servicing, fluid change and front and rear tyres. While Oaklie (supervised by Daniel) carried out most of the service and tyre replacement by himself, Daniel continued with the carb build on the Suzuki GSX-R 750 Slabside.

Unfortunately, whoever had been in and worked on the carbs for the Slabside before, had managed to put them back together incorrectly. We suspect this will most likely be why the bikes performance was described as ‘fluffy’ by the owner and was subsequently found to be flooding on a couple of the cylinders. Thankfully in this case we have not had to replace the carb rubbers, seals, etc as the parts themselves seem to be in good order.

Note: The carb strip down, ultrasonic cleaning and rebuilding of the Slabside carbs had already taken quite a few hours to get them to this point and they still needed to be refitted and balanced before the bike could be test ridden.

Wednesday

Wednesday the workshop was closed as Daniel headed north to Mallory Park for a James Whitham Track Training Day. This is the second James Whitham day Daniel has completed and this time his instructor was the very brilliant and incredibly talented Christian Iddon, Oxford Ducati BSB racer.

To find out more about the Whitham Track Training days please do check out our blog from last year.

Thursday

On Thursday we welcomed a trio of BMWs. First up the gorgeous BMW 9T for presale checks – another great sale for DJK Motorcycles.

Next up we welcomed two BMW G310s for more presale checks.

Here at mono motorcycles we have the very latest TEXA diagnostic software for most modern motorcycles. We offer a full diagnostic service and include diagnostic scans as part of our motorcycle service packages.

We then welcomed a Honda Fireblade for cam-chain tensioner replacement. When the customer arrived he asked if we could also source a rear tyre, which we did.

We can order tyres for next day delivery Monday to Thursday, or order Friday for a Monday delivery. Please do contact us for price and availability.

Thursday evening we finished at a reasonable time and headed over to Hayling Bike Night. The sun shone, the band played, the conversations flowed into each other, and the laughter was uplifting. Awesome night!

Friday

First up on the ramp today we welcomed a Yamaha MT09 for an Interim Service and a tank replacement. Unfortunately, the tank sustained a considerable dent when it slipped off its side stand and fell against the corner of a container. The tank was not available in the UK and therefore we had to wait for the part to arrive from Japan. Thankfully the bike was still rideable in the meanwhile.

Next up we welcomed back the Italjet Dragster for belts, rollers and clutch. In addition, we were asked if we could give Harrods Bear a service too. Harrods bear travels everywhere with the owner of the Italjet and we were more than happy to oblige.
