Motorcycles Old, New, Adventure, Sports, Classics & everything in between

As the daylight hours become a little longer, there are the very first signs of Spring on the horizon.

With the UK Covid roadmap having been announced just over a week ago, there is a hopeful buzz in the air. With this buzz, our workshop has become filled with motorcycles of all eras, all disciplines & all ages.

On Monday 8th March, as always, we celebrated International Women’s Day. This year’s focus was a celebration of Women Road Racers.

Triumph Daytona 675 Track Bike

On Monday we welcomed a Triumph Daytona 675 track bike to the mono motorcycles workshop. The Daytona joined us for valve clearances & fork seals.

Three of the exhaust valves on the Daytona were found to be too tight & therefore Daniel re-shimmed them.

Ducati 900s FF Super Sport

On Tuesday, we welcomed a classic Ducati 900s FF Super Sport to the mono motorcycles workshop. The Ducati was only booked in with us for Cambelt replacement. However, midway through the day the customer asked us to have a look at why the Ducati cut out when he turned the handlebars.

Upon investigation, Daniel suspected there was a break in the wire to the ignition switch. As this would have entailed stripping the front of the Ducati down, the customer has taken the bike away to consider his options going forward.

BSA C11, Austin 7 Trials Car! Piaggio Ape, BMW S1000XR

Wednesday was a really busy day & we are grateful to have our good friend James (currently furloughed) helping us at such a busy time.

Daniel rebuilt the gear box for the BSA C11 & James fitted it Wednesday afternoon. James spent the morning fitting new tyres & inner tubes to one of our Austin 7 Trials customers newly powder coated wheels.

The Carb for the Piaggio Ape (TukTuk) arrived & James removed the uprated jets from the old carb & refitted them in the new carb & then refitted the new carb to the Piaggio.

The BMW S1000XR repaired oil cooler was refitted, new battery fitted, coolant drained & replaced & Daniel took the XR out for a test ride in between the rain. Once checked for leaks, the customer was contacted to come & collect the BMW.

Repsol Honda CBR1000

Our regular customers Repsol Honda CBR1000 joined us on Wednesday for an annual service & to assess why the fan was not coming on.

During the service, Daniel found that the headlight had blown. When he replaced it, it still didn’t work. Upon investigation he found that the relays to the headlight & the fan had burnt out.

We ordered some new relays, which arrived the next day. Once the relays were fitted, Daniel took the CBR on a test ride & the fan came on at 102°C.

Suzuki GSXR 1000 K8

On Thursday we welcomed a Suzuki GSXR 1000 K8 to the mono motorcycles workshop for a throttle body balance. The GSXR had already been to Steve Jordan for tuning.

BMW R1200 GS Adventure

On Thursday we welcomed a BMW R1200 GS Adventure to the mono motorcycles workshop. The GS was booked in with us to have a full Paint Correction detail & to have the top box & pannier set wrapped in vinyl wrapping.

As the detailing process was underway, our vinyl wrapper advised that he didn’t seem to be able to make the wrap stick to the aluminium.

Therefore, plan B. We decided to try & get as much of the road debris out of the bare aluminium & polish & seal them as best we could.

Nathan & James spent a considerable amount of time with Daniel’s professional mopping Kits (electric polisher) & an alloy compound, polishing out as much of the road debris as possible.

The top box & pannier set were all then coated in a Nano seal & ACF50 to provide as much protection as possible against the elements.

Once the BMW detailing was complete, Daniel gave the paintwork a coating of Nano seal & the rest of the BMW was given an ACF50 treatment.

This entire process costs £208 + VAT

Triumph Tiger XCx 800

On Friday we welcomed a Triumph Tiger 800 XCX for Chain & Sprockets & rear brake pad replacement. Nathan assisted Daniel to remove the rear wheel, replace the chain & sprockets/rear pads & assisted with Torquing the wheel & caliper bolts once the process was finished.

The Sun creeping through the clouds has given us all a much needed boost & we are all ever hopeful of better days ahead. As business owners we are so very grateful for the incredible support from our customers, supporters, friends & family. We are overwhelmingly humbled by everyone’s belief in us & for supporting us through such a challenging time. Thank You, all the best, Daniel & Katy
